The owners of Plume are husband and wife team Chase Williams and Lia Pennacchi. This restaurant dream is a reflection of our passion for the industry, and has always been the goal we were working towards. We have both worked in restaurants for years and we wanted to create something of our own. Plume is so excited to offer an exciting new restaurant experience in Rockford!
Our inspiration comes from the family roots in Emilia-Romagna and Rome, Italy. My father grew up in a town surrounded by some of the best ingredients Italy has to offer. Rubiera, Italy is where my grandmother, a former cook herself, still lives today and a short drive away from the production of Balsamic Vinegar from Modena, Parmigiano Reggiano, and prosciutto from Parma. Northern Italy has such a vibrant culinary scene filled with amazing meats, cheeses and unique dishes. My late grandfather’s family lives in a town a few hours north of Rome, where wild boar, foraged truffles, and Roman influences shape their own unique cuisine. Drawing inspiration from these two beautiful areas in Italy creates a platform for Plume to bring something new to Rockford.
At Plume, you'll be greeted with some regionally traditional dishes that are familiar as well as inventive new plates. From a great patio, amaro selection, craft cocktails, and scratch cooking with a rotating original menu, Plume is a direct translation of our passion into a cocktail glass and onto a dinner plate. We have put our heart and soul into this and we hope Plume is something special and unique that the people of Rockford can be proud of.

Plume is a translation of the Pennacchi family name. While my father grew up in a small town outside of Bologna, his father's family hails from a picturesque town an hour or so north of Rome. The origin of last names is always a fascinating mystery for most. For our family, the theory has always been we came from writers with their beautiful quill pens, or from Ancient Roman helmet makers. Those vibrant red feathers protruding from soldier's helmets? Those are called Pennacchi. And we couldn't be more proud to bring a little piece of our family history to Rockford, Illinois.

Walking in the doors at Plume, you can expect to find a cozy, intimate interior and a beautiful outdoor patio. You can enjoy a casual night out with friends and family or have an intimate dinner by candlelight with your loved one. The bar at Plume will feature original craft cocktails with a focus on balance, quality, and seasonality. Keeping with our Northern Italian inspiration, don’t be surprised to find things like balsamic vinegar and amaro, a type of traditional Italian herbal liqueur, making its way into cocktails. One goal is to have the area’s largest collection of amaro. We can’t wait to share summers on the patio with our guests. The outside bar will be reimagined as a spritz bar for light, refreshing cocktails, perfect for summer nights. All pasta dishes will feature fresh hand made pasta from our culinary team. Family favorite dishes such as tigelle and gnocco fritto are essentially a new way to enjoy cheese and charcuterie at Plume. Our favorite part of the job is getting a weekly fresh product list from local farmers or visiting farmers markets and tailoring a menu to match what is available. Plume makes the conscious decision on sustainable sourcing so the guests can relax and trust that we take our commitment seriously. The menu at Plume will be constantly changing and evolving so there is always something new and exciting to try each month.
